Summer 2025
Finally able this year to take my one year old son to see his grandparents out in Saskatchewan - a trip of over 1500Km! Mum and baby fly to Calgary where we met up at our booked hotel. The next day driving three hours into Medicine Hat where we spent the evening before driving on for another three hours to my parents place.
I didn't get out to cover as much ground photographically as I usually try to do when I have the opportunity to be out and about photographing on the prairie. Did get to Red Rock Coulee near Medicine Hat and in Saskatchewan a few villages/hamlets within about an hour of home.
Since I had good results with black & white infrared film in my 2023 visit, I was looking forward to exploring the landscape more with this film as well as my regular go-to colour reversal film (Provia 100F) in my Mamiya 645 Pro TL. I reserved the Mamiya C330 Pro S for infrared film.
We only we able to spend a week as my wife only had two weeks off. So spent a week at home then we decided to all drive back, i.e., 1500+ Km. However, we did so travelling only a few hours a day and it went wonderfully. We got to take our time and visit a few more places we normally wouldn't have stopped at. The last stop in Kelowna at a B&B cherry farm was great. We came home with four bags of Sierra cherries (my favourite).
It was a nice holiday, but way too short. I have to review some of my images to remind me that it was not just a dream - my the time sure went by fast and here we are already two weeks into the new school term September 2025!
