2019 Fraser Valley Biennale
When I arrived home Friday afternoon, I was mildly surprised to receive the following email:
And not only that, but also to have one of my images featured on the promotional poster.
Dear Bob,
Thank you for your submission to the 2019 Fraser Valley Biennale and for your patience during our deliberations. The number and quality of the submissions we received far exceeded our expectations, which made the decision-making process a difficult and lengthy one.
I am pleased to tell you that your works "Stave Power" and "Autumn Twist" have been accepted for inclusion in the 2019 Biennale. We would like to show these works at The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford during our presentation of the Biennale, from October 3, 2019, to January 5, 2020. This will be the largest iteration of the Biennale in 2019, but we are also currently working with the following local arts councils to make reduced selections from the pool of successful applicants: Abbotsford Arts Council (January 5 - February 5), Kent Harrison Arts Council (March, exact dates TBD), Chilliwack Visual Artists Association (June 5 - June 29), and Mission Arts Council (July 30 - August 17). We will inform you very soon if your work is also selected for any of these smaller iterations of the Biennale.
Further information and an artist contract will be forthcoming in due course. In the meantime, allow me to extend my congratulations - we look forward to working with you and to displaying your work at The Reach.
Best regards,
Adrienne Fast
Curator of Art & Visual Culture
The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford
According to the Biennale Foundation, "Its mission is to provide advocacy and thought leadership for the international arts community and to engage and inspire diverse non-professional audiences by actively fostering the study, recognition and appreciation of perennial exhibitions of contemporary art, design and architecture commonly known as “biennials”."
I am truly grateful and honoured for this opportunity first at the Kariton and then the Reach galleries.
I look forward to participating and hope this will help accelerate my desire for a full-time artist career.
And not only that, but also to have one of my images featured on the promotional poster.
